Coral Reef Initiative for the South Pacific

CRISP Coordination Unit

The coordination of the CRISP Programme is provided by the CRISP Coordination Unit (CCU) and its programme manager (Eric CLUA). The unit is hosted by the Secretariat of the Pacific Community (SPC) in Nouméa (New-Caledonia).

The CRISP Coordination Unit has three roles:

  1. Ensure the Coordination and the follow-up/evaluation of the > activities undertaken by the various technical partners of the programme;

  2. Promote the work performed and rults obtained by the Programme at the international level; and

  3. Develop institutional partnerships (donors, developed countries within the region, international NGOs, etc.) in order to extend the scale of the programme.

The programme manager, based at the CCU, benefits from the support of two scientific counselors: Professor Bernard SALVAT (laboratoire de l'Ecole Pratique des Hautes Etudes de Perpignan, France) and Dr. Clive WILKINSON of the Australian Institute of Marine Sciences of Townsville (Australia).

Following the technical workshop for the launch of the programme in January 2005, a Coordination Unit Support Committee (CSC) was created. This consultative committee meets at least once per year and constitutes a forum for consultation and exchange between the principal actors of the programme and THE programme manager in order to improve the coordination of the group.
